Are You Fired Up?

What gets you passionate for God?

Is your love hot for the Lord? Immediate family? For the family of God?

If not, then what’s stopping you?

If we know that cold, cool, or lukewarm love does not satisfy us, then why would it satisfy God or anyone else?

Does thinking of God cause tears to run in thankfulness? Do you sing at the top of your lungs to Him or dance with joy at home? Do you at times sink to your knees in wonder that He loves you?

Or, do you think that God is so disgusted that He cannot look at you?

The only way to have such a love is to share His. To know Him is to know His hot love for you. You will not be able to contain it.

But, if you don’t know His hot love, do you know Him?

Please don’t answer with Once Saved, Always Saved, which too often has the appearance of one who has lost their first love. Neither cold, cool, or lukewarm are safe.

“Nevertheless I have something against you, because you have left your first love.”  Revelation 2:4

  1. Read Hebrews 5:7-10…..there is a conditional statement there……..SALVATION “FOR ALL WHO OBEY HIM”………..ARE WE OBEYING HIM?……HAVE WE FOLLOWED THE GREAT COMMISSION?….WHAT IF WE DON’T DO HIS COMMANDS AFTER WE ARE “SAVED”? DO WE HAVE THE OPTION TO DISOBEY AND NOT FOLLOW CHRIST BUT STILL HAVE SALVATION?

    • Hi Kent,

“he became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey him” Heb 5:9b

Yes, those whose way of life is disobedience have no confidence that they are saved.

Romans 11 makes it very clear:
17 And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them partake of the root and fatness of the olive tree; 18 Do not boast against the branches. But if you boast, you do not bear the root, the root bears you. 19 You will say, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in. 20 Well; THEY WERE BROKEN OFF BECAUSE OF THEIR UNBELIEF, and YOU STAND BY FAITH. Do not be high-minded, but fear: 21 IF GOD DID NOT SPARE THE NATURAL BRANCHES, HE WILL NOT SPARE YOU. 22 Behold the goodness and severity of God: severity on them who fell through unbelief; but GOODNESS TOWARD YOU, IF YOU CONTINUE THROUGH FAITH: OTHERWISE YOU ALSO SHALL BE CUT OFF. Romans 11:17-22

Salvation requires faith. Obedience is faith’s result.
No obedience = no faith = no salvation.
Salvation changes people. No change should alert people to question their salvation!

  2. I received an offline comment expressing interest in how we stay hot for God. Here is the response:

‘Apart from Me, you can do nothing.’ Not even staying hot. It should be a relief for us to know that He never intended us to bear all the responsibility for anything—we prove to ourselves, very soon, that we cannot. In our ‘new creation,’ He bears the load in the yoke, and we join Him. Hudson Taylor at first struggled with the danger into which ‘he’ was sending new CIM missionaries. The Lord corrected him that it was His responsibility to care for all.
