A person spoke of the impact of 1 John 4:8b, “… God is love.”
Paraphrasing, “Suddenly the IS stood out. God IS love. It’s not that He has love and can give it to me, much like Him wearing a coat and saying, ‘Here is some love.’ that He takes out of His pocket and gives to me.”
It’s more personal than that!
The author continued, “If God IS love, then how much can I have? Nothing. If He IS love, then He is 100% love, and by my math, that leaves me nothing.”
Similarly, how much joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control can I have (Gal 5:22)?
All these are all His, for He IS these, not has them.
He is their embodiment.
And, the glory of this is that He has made us one with Him and we share all Who He IS!
We no longer strive to be loving – in fact, we won’t be. He is love, and we share Him.
We no longer will strive to be powerful witnesses and wonder why we fail, for He is the power of God.
“(24) But to them who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. (30) By Him you are in Christ Jesus, Who of God is made to us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:” 1 Corinthians 1:24, 30
