From Death to Life

A friend and sister in the Lord is in her last hours of life.

Lord, help her as she passes from the death of her body to life eternal in You.

Her life has contained many hard things.

Yet, You triumphed anyway, by introducing Yourself to her, so that she accepted your offer of life and love.

Death never wins against You.

“(42) So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised incorruptible. (43) It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. (44) It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.  (49) And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. (50) Now this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit the incorruptible. (51) Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, (52) in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (53) For this corruptible must put on the incorruptible, and this mortal must put on immortality. (54) So when this corruptible shall have put on the incorruptible, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. (55) O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? (56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. (57) But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:42-44, 49-57

Many people think that sickness and death are evidences against a loving God.

We Christians may also wonder at life’s tragedies. We could echo Lazarus’ sisters, “Lord, if You had been here, our brother would not have died.”

Aren’t sickness and death contrary to Your will?

Yes, He wanted neither, but as did Adam, we all have left His paths for our own.

Verse 56 highlighted that, “the sting of death is sin.” Sin causes all sickness, disease, and death.

And, though we Christians have returned to the Shepherd of our souls, the consequences of sin remain.

But, the grave hasn’t won.

Death is only a sting.

We overwhelmingly conquer through Him Who loved us!

“(37) No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us. (38) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, (39) nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, inasmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

Despite all tragedies, the Lord remakes life, so that you will find yourself saying, “Lord, I don’t know how You did this, but You have made life worth living again!”

You have blessed Your faithful by bringing them face to face with You through death.

We will see our loved ones again!

Thank You, Lord!
