No Drama in Swimming

Drama, frustration, and anger are indicators of unbelief, of an underlying, reigning fear.

“What do you see?” The Lord asked.

“I see a swimming pool. It’s full of people playing, swimming, or learning to swim.”

“Is there any drama in swimming?” He smiled.

“No, Lord. The ones who know how to swim are having a great time. Those who are learning know that their teacher is near, that they’re not in any real danger.”

We departed the civilized pool and entered a path into the woods. A short time later, we came upon a river with a swimming hole. In the middle was one who was splashing furiously, choking on water, and loudly yelling, “I can swim!” In a semi-circle were others treading water out of the thrashing one’s reach. “Don’t you care?” one shouted. Another indignantly railed, “It’s not fair that you good swimmers aren’t rescuing him. He’s obviously drowning!”

Care and Fairness were with us earlier. We warned them, but they charged in to help. They’re both under him who is drowning.”

“What?”

“They lacked substance and foolishly came within his reach. He’s pulled them under – they’re gone.”

The one screamed, “I can swim! I’ve read every book on swimming and watched every YouTube video! I can swim!”

Worriedly, a few asked, “Then what will we do? If he’s pulled them under who’ve tried to help, then we might drown, if we attempt to rescue him.”

The Lord closed, “He must exhaust himself. Pray for him, but ignore his adamant declarations of being able to swim. For, if he knew how, he wouldn’t be sinking. I’m always tethered to them who love Me by My indwelling them. Those who know Me will never drown.”

There’s no drama when you know and live by Him, for fear has gone.

“(16) And we have known and believed the love that God has to us. God is love; and he who dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him. (17) In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. (18) There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear: because fear involves punishment. He who fears is not complete in love. (19) We love Him, because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:16-19
